George Lane founded Lane Automotive in 1964 in his small garage. Due to his passion for automobiles, racing, muscle cars, and hot rodding, Lane Automotive is now known worldwide as an industry supplier of performance parts and accessories. They supply parts for racers, modifiers, and off-road enthusiasts through several divisions including Motor State Performance Warehouse, Allstar Performance, Lane Collectables, and our favorite, Exact Detail.

Once Lane Automotive began to grow, they opened a wholesale warehouse (Motor State Performance Warehouse) to supply speed shops with the parts they needed. As business continued to expand, they spun off two other divisions. The Allstar Performance division is now a supplier of hard to find tools and accessories for building race cars, and the Lane Collectables division supplies collectibles including our beloved Exact Detail diecast cars.

While Lane Collectables is responsible for designing and supplying the Exact Detail series of muscle cars, they also supply collectors with several other brands of diecast cars from GMP, Highway 61, RC2, Team Caliber, 1320, Action Racing, Liberty Classics, and Supercar Collectibles. Lane's diecast models were introduced to fill a void in the market and they filled this void with highly detailed model cars that targeted muscle car enthusiasts.
