America went crazy for big cars with big engines in the early 1960's. Of all the mega-cube rides available in those days, none was finer than the 409 in the Chevrolet Impala. Introduced in 1961 the Super Sport had prestige, comfort, room and a drag-racing heritage second to none. By '64 it was the full-size muscle car to own. An Impala SS had bucket seats, a console, the "four on the floor" - hot items in those days! The hottest motor was the dual-quad 409 which pumped out 425 horsepower at 6000 rpm and an equal amount of torque, 425 ft. lbs. at 3600 rpm!
